A good steak
goes a long way in giving you sleepless nights and indigestion. But getting
there is so much fun. With that said, I need to confess, that ‘this’ was not a
preparation made solely by myself, the Mother, Sister and Wife helped, or maybe
I helped them, who knows? But since this is my blog, I call shotgun for the
position of “Head Chef”, or like they say in Tamil, “Master”. Don’t ask me why?
Now as the
“Master” it was my duty to make sure that, that tender piece of tenderloin
wasn’t cooked to a point where it looked, felt and probably tasted like coal,
and for once, We managed to succeed. It was just right, juicy on the outside
and medium rare-ish-ly pink on the inside. It was glazed with an unhealthy dose
of pan-gravy, which must say, was awesome.
Together with
some Roasted Baby Potatoes, Carrots and Beans with a mild garlic paste (Lets
call them “Un assortiment de Legumes” for fancy sake), this Set Meal needed one
thing and one thing alone, Toasted Bread with a thick layer of butter. I don’t care
what people say, a fresh slice of Bread, toasted with some proper butter (not
that margarine rubbish) is the cornerstone to… well whatever cornerstones are
for.
Oh, I almost
forgot, the green leafy salad thing on the side is fresh Ice-berg Lettuce,
Sliced Capsicums and some Tomatoes. The newest member of the family (the Wife)
thinks it makes the meal “Look a little health conscious”.
2 – Slices of
Toasted Bread, Buttered (Garlic Butter is good too)
1 – Slice of
Tenderloin Steak about 250gms approximately – more if you want. Marinate with
some ginger/garlic paste, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce for about 4 to
6 hrs.
Grill both
sides on high heat and then transfer to a preheated oven for about 15 to 20 min
at 200 heat. This way the meaty juices stay in while it cooks. Also keep it closed always.
Sauce:
A – Pan Sauce, combine whatever Grease is left in the grill pan after the meat is taken out with some Worcestershire
sauce, garlic, pepper, olive oil and a little corn flour.
Sides:
Roasted – Baby Potatoes, Carrots
and Beans, roasted slightly with a little garlic paste, salt, pepper and little
of that sauce for added joy.
Greens – Fresh vegetables like
Lettuce, Capsicum, and Tomatoes… Really anything you like.
